Stellata (Eindhoven, 1975) studied Image and Sound/Art Science at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague. Her personal transition as a transgender woman also reshaped her artistic practice. Where her earlier focus was on sound art, in recent years she has shifted to weaving textiles. In her experience designing and developing fabrics is no less technical or audible than her earlier work. It resonates with her geeky personality. To capture ideas and emotions in her textiles, she adapts existing weaving techniques to her own needs. With vibrant colors and intricate patterns she weaves her lush inner identity with the softness of her fabrics.
