An extra newsletter, because my year started with two doses of good news! I am participating in the group exhibition TUSSENVORMEN – between art and objects by Unit4Art. And Kaboom Animation festival has included A Story of Unfolding Wings in a special program filled with textile animation.
Unit4Art
The opening at Unit4Art is this Sunday at 3 p.m. in Gouda. It’s easy to get to, as it’s just a short walk from the station. I’ll be showing my Glitching Mermaids, a number of Ocular Glitches, Waves of a Mermaid and my latest work, Aurora Me. It’s a large group exhibition, I’ll be surrounded by more colorful work!

Kaboom Animation Festival
So nice that my film can participate. A film block filled with textile animations, I am very curious! The festival program will be announced any day now, but I know that A Story of Unfolding Wings will be shown at once in Utrecht and once in Amsterdam. I will be there myself.
Now only Rotterdam and I will have conquered the Randstad…
13-22 March in Utrecht and Amsterdam.
The full program will follow this week or next week.

Yarn Store
I have decided to start a yarn shop alongside my art. That is to say, I am going to bring Bockens’ beautiful yarns to the Netherlands. I found it so strange that you cannot order them anywhere in the Netherlands. Bockens’ cotton yarns are softer than I am used to, and they come in so many colours! I have already stocked up on a good supply of 16/2 yarns for my own Transitions research.
But I also want to sell them, using the margin as a small contribution to my art practice. Because I can’t and don’t want to buy randomly, I’m starting on a presale basis. Once every one to two weeks, I order everything that has been ordered from me up to that point. I’ve already received beautiful webshop photos of the yarns, which I will also be putting on the website soon. But first, I’m going to do a few trial rounds.
Are you also an (art) weaver and would you like to participate in the trial rounds? Please let me know by replying to this email. I will not be sending any further emails about my yarn shop in these art mailings; there is a separate mailing for that. You can sign up here! But I can already tell you that there is a lower price for affiliated weavers!

Personal
Quite a lot has happened in a short space of time! My weaving research is going wonderfully. My first weave on the thinner 16/2 yarn for Transitions is going perfectly! And after an intensive online lesson with Babs van den Thillart (online, because it was so slippery outside), I was immediately able to experience what double block weaving can mean for me through my first double weave. I’m hooked! Oh yes, and my art book is now at the printer’s…
But I have also finally been able to take the last step in my transition. After a somewhat longer wait and an even longer wait for the results of the research on progesterone for trans people by VUmc, I was finally able to add the hormone progesterone to my hormone therapy. After just under four weeks, I am already sleeping better and feeling more rested. Serenity…
And I have started singing as alto in Rotterdam SpaceChoir. A pop choir with a wonderfully diverse background, where we sing super fun love songs. Mark your calendars, because on 27 June I will be participating in the afternoon performance at Amare in The Hague.
Love,
Stellata ♡
