I'm so happy I finally started weaving this! Quitt

I'm so happy I finally started weaving this! Quitting my part time job to get more time to weave takes a lot of time, but it's happening, or happened actually 🧜🏼‍♀️

This is the start of my first weave in my Weaving Glitches research project. I want to find ways, techniques, to get graphical glitches into fabric. During the research I will find out more about how I will play with glitches.

Actually I see a glitch that I want to fix though.. Setting up took quite some time, but it was also fun. The colors and the programming, the threading of the heddles. It had a musical touch to it.. 😊🎶

I reintroduced having my 'damn fine coffee' in this Twin Peaks mug on days that I make art. Maybe that's why I wove this last pattern on Ocular Aurora. It has a bit that Twin Peaks feel I think.

This weekend I made photos of the different experi

This weekend I made photos of the different experiments I made weaving Ocular Aurora.
I wanted to make a zigzag like pattern I see sometimes when I experience ocular aura or visual migraine. But also a pattern on a dress that reminded me of that phenomenon. After seeing aurora borealis with my 15 years old, I realized it also fits, for that reason I made the longer patterns!

Photo 2. Ocular Aurora 0.1, the back of the first pattern, I actually gave it to @worm_rotterdam today, so grateful for all these years working there. But I decided to stop the system admin job I was doing. I will get back to WORM, for art I think we might be in inseparable 🙃 I also asked the fabric back temporary since I'm still thinking what kind of framing I wil use or invent for this weave..
Photo 3 is a close up from the front of this weave.

Photo 4. A slower version, not really zigzag anymore. Based on the aurora borealis. I find the structure, the connecting of the yarns very interesting.

Photo 5. Close up, this one feels a bit magical. Everytime you move the fabric the colour's change slighty. Want to try to get that effect more often!

One day I think I'll make a wider size with different patterns. Not ready yet work Ocular Aurora! ☺️
